She's 18!

Time has really amazing redhead is 18!  It happened a month ago but I am still having a hard time believing it.  We wanted to do something really special for her big day so we asked her what she wanted to do and all she really wanted was to have a tea party!  After lots of discussing and planning she decided to do a coffee and tea party.  It was so much fun planning this with her.  She is such a lover of all things tea and coffee.  As her gift from us I went out and purchased all new dishes for this party so that when she eventually is ready to be on her own, she will have a good base of lovely dishes to entertain her guests with.  :)  I'm pretty sure the party was a big hit, she talked about for days after!!

The record player was a gift from my sister.  Taylor was so excited to get it and she changed out records the whole party!

Ben built this tea holder for her birthday.  Nothing like a gift from daddy on your birthday. :)  Hopefully she will love it always.

We covered the breakfast table in kraft paper and chalkboard paper for everyone to draw and write notes for Taylor on.

They're such cute kids right!?!

I'm so amazed at how quickly they grow up it seems like just yesterday I was putting Taylor's hair in pigtails and watching her play with Polly Pockets.  I just hope the next 18 years go by a little slower.  LOL!

Awesome New Updates

Y'all I am SUPER excited about some of the things we have accomplished around here!  We've moved rooms, painted furniture and celebrated birthdays!

The first major change was to swap the living room and dining room.  As much as I fought this change, I am so pleased with how it has changed the way we live.  When we toured the house to rent it the previous tenants had their "family room" set up near the kitchen and it felt tight but their furniture was SO much larger than mine I thought nothing of it and being the follower that I am ;) I did my furniture the same way when we moved in.  Big mistake, it was so cramped when all 5 of us were sitting together.  We are big movie and popcorn people so we needed our space to lounge on a regular basis.  About 6 months in I was pulling my hair out and tired of all of the whining about "his feet are touching me" or "why does daddy get a couch all to himself".  So after moving every piece of furniture in every configuration I could think of I decided, after brainstorming with my mom and sister, to just ditch the whole "family room" idea.  What a difference!!  My biggest reservation was that I wouldn't be in the same room as everyone else while cooking.  Surprise, surprise it doesn't matter what room I'm in...they follow. Haha!

Take a look at the before

And this is what it looked like a few months ago when we made the switch...

Even more has changed since this picture but that will have to wait for another day. :)  The lonely Eames Chair is just the start of some awesome changes!

Oh Cozumel, I Miss You!

Our cruise to Cozumel, Mexico was a few weeks ago and I miss being on that boat SOOOO much. LOL.  I don't think I have EVER had so much fun.  Celebrate Hillary was such a success that we have decided to make it an annual adventure!  I know I kinda dropped the ball on informing you guys of my getting fit process but since we are cruising again in 2016 I am even more motivated!  Through exercising, eating better and the AMAZING Suja juice products I dropped 15 pounds in 2 months!!  I still have about 15 more to go before I am at my ideal weight but more importantly I want to be more fit, trim and healthy.  More on that later but here are some pics from our wonderful trip.

Our excursion was snorkeling and a catamaran to a beautiful beach.  Snorkeling was a blast!
Our catamaran.

Inflatables in the water!!  The boys men had a blast playing on these the whole time we were on the beach!  The women watched and laughed as they made fools of themselves... Good Times!

The water when we stepped off the boat in Cozumel.  Crystal clear.

Our boat.  Carnival you rock!!

We have arrived!

If you ever have the opportunity to go on a cruise... DO IT!  You won't regret it.  It's an experience that everyone should take advantage of at least once in their life.  I love Carnival but I've read good things about a lot of other cruise lines.

I'm sad it's over but so thankful for the friends I made and the memories I came home with.  Can't wait for next year!!

It's Summer!

Summer has officially begun for the Revell Family!  Last night we took the boat out for a short ride along the river.  It was nice being on the water again.  The kids really love it.  Taylor is more of an ocean junkie but she still loves a nice ride along the river.  Cameron wants to fish every time he sets foot on that boat and Bella just loves to go FAST! Haha.

I took a few pictures while we were out.  Taylor avoided the camera for some reason so I only have the back of her head.  Lol, teenagers!

One thing you will learn from me on this blog is that I have a mad love for clouds.  The way the sun hides behind them but the rays still show through makes me smile.  God does that in my life on a regular.  He sits back and lets me make my decisions but never lets me forget that he is there, whether there is a dark cloud over me or not, He Is There!

My babies are growing so fast.  Bella starts Kindergarten in August and Taylor will be a SENIOR in high school... Where has that time gone?  This summer is a very important one for me personally.  This is my last summer before my life changes drastically.  I will be alone come August.  For 5 years I have been a stay at home mom and Bella has been with me EVERY DAY.  I will miss having her here with me and I'm not quite sure whether or not I should go back to work or just continue to be here when they get home from school.  Most people say that I should go back to work but this is also one of my last years with Taylor at home.  Soon she will leave and be on her own and I want to be here for her as much as I always have been in her last years at home.  No decisions have been made either way so I am going to just enjoy this summer with my babies and see how next school year goes.

Hopefully this summer will be filled with boat rides, beach days, pool days and loads of CRAFT DAYS!!

We've Moved!!

It finally happened! We moved into another house, still renting, but now we have room to spread out and really make some things happen.  I'm not sure anyone really understood how unhappy I was in the other house.  I'm not sure I even understand why.  Have you ever felt like you were just not where you were supposed to be...?  That's how I felt.  I never felt at home there.  Almost like we were just visiting for 3 years!  The new house on the other hand, is wonderful!  I love it.  The house itself is not my dream home per say but there are so many other things that make it feel like home.  We are within walking distance from our church and Bella's school, there is a neighborhood park and pool and most importantly the kids have already made friends.  In the other neighborhood it always seemed like we were living in a kidless community.  This neighborhood is full of kids of all ages and a ton of them actually go to our church and are already friends of the kids.  I finally feel like we are where we are supposed to be and hopefully we will be here in this community for a long time!

I took some pics of the house but you have to excuse the mess!  We did just move in...

This is what you see when you first walk in the door.
Right now we are calling this the "front room" the purpose is still undetermined.  There are plans to sell the papasan chair and possibly the entertainment center.
Unfortunately this is not even half of our DVD collection.  We are thinking of building a shelving unit that can store and hide this chaos.
My sister and I call this the "non-corner wall".  I'm thinking of a great buffet or console table to act as party central!
This is our family room.  Obviously this is were we spend most of our time because it's the most completed.  I have been yard saleing and thrifting and found most of the items in this room.  More on that later. ;) BTW, that's Bella waving HI!

Ben's new/old thrifted chair!

Ugly Florida fireplace that will serve no purpose and should never have been allowed in such an obnoxiously hot climate.

Ok, so that is the bottom floor except bedrooms, bathrooms and the kitchen.  I have saved the best part of the house for last...  Again, please ignore the MASIVE mess that I have created!

I HAVE MY OWN SEPARATE WORK SPACE!!!!  This is why we are renting this house.  That table is 4 feet by 8 feet!!

So, there is our new home.  I have a truckload of ideas for every room.  Hopefully being in this home will keep me motivated enough to take pictures and share with everyone all of my projects.  There are a couple that I have already completed just waiting to be shared.

Celebrate Hillary

My closest, longest, bestest friend Hillary is graduating from college in May!  This may not sound like that big of a deal to some of you but to me, IT'S HUGE.  Hillary is a 33 year old single mom of an adorable little girl.  She has overcome so much adversity and has worked her tail off to get this degree.  I have never been so proud!  So, to celebrate, she has asked some of her closest friend to join her on a cruise to Cozumel!!  Of course I said "When and for how long!?!" I need to get a babysitter!!

I am so excited for this cruise.  Not only am I so happy for Hillary but I am still having withdrawals from our last cruise.  It was the most fun I have ever had in my entire life...true story.

Taking this cruise obviously means that I have to drop some pounds!  I won't bore you with the diet talk but I do want to keep myself motivated so I will be Instagraming little things and maybe posting stuff about the journey.  I'm not "overweight" per say but I weigh more now than I did when I was 9 months pregnant with Cameron!  That's not good.  I can't begin to tell you how stoked I am to finally have some motivation to get me back in shape.  I will let everyone know if I find any yummy healthy recipes or if I find one exercise that really works.  For now I just plan to eat better, walk on the treadmill and dance my tushie off!!

Congrats Hillary!  I know you haven't gotten your degree yet but you made it further than most!!

Productivity [proh-duhk-tiv-i-tee]

  • noun

1. the quality, state, or fact of being able to generate, create,                         enhance, or bring forth goods and services:  The productivity of the group's effort surprised everyone.
definition from

Lately I have taken a long look at this word, productivity and/or being productive.  It is a word that I have been hearing all my life.  In the work force, this word is drilled into your head on a daily basis.  "Increase productivity!  That is the goal."  As a work at home mom, there really is no one in your face demanding that you "be more productive".  You just kind of do what needs to be done when it needs to be done.  Don't get me wrong the demand is there for sure.  Kids need food...feed them.  Dishes are piling them.  Toilets need cleaning...procrastinate until you just can't anymore ;).  However, if for some reason dinner isn't ready on time or the dishes pile higher than usual, there is no real backlash.  There is only the fear of inadequacy.  Thus, as a wife and mother, increasing productivity is forefront on the mind.

In terms of my life as a wife, mother and business owner, productivity has new meaning these days.  Everyday it seems harder and harder to really understand this word.  The days I feel I am being most productive really just consist of how clean my house is.  So sad.

So let's exercise the mind and demo that definition, shall we?  I really want to break this thing apart with a sledgehammer right now!  Here goes...

the quality, state, or fact of being able to...goods or services

Generate and Create
These words apply to so many aspects of my life.  I am a creative person by nature so I started a business in which I "create" and "generate" goods.  I also love DIY projects and changing the way my house looks on a regular basis, it soothes me.  Somehow changing the appearance of a room and where I put my hutch help me deal with the day-to-day.  Keep generating and creating to keep the sanity!

Create to me has a double meaning right now.  Moving, and recent happenings with my family, has really changed the way I think about my relationships with friends and family.  I have never had an abundance of friends but the ones I do have, I know that in ANY situation, would be here for me.  Family has always been EXTREMELY important to me (my mom and my sister are 2 of my very best friends) but outside of them, my family seems...distant.  So "create" also stands for creating closer links to family and friends.  Family and friends that may not be close by don't have to be an eternity away.  Revive those relationships.

Let's forget about the "goods or services" part and just examine the word "enhance".  I am going to use this word going forward as a sort of mantra.  Enhance the way you feel about yourself.  Enhance the way you look at yourself.  Enhance the way you look and feel about your home.  I have never really been a self conscious person and, to be frank, I generally don't care what I look like on a daily basis.  So, enter the word enhance.  It really makes me want to get up and put some make-up on. :)  It's almost like putting the finishing touches on a beautiful table scape...Enhance.

Bring Forth
As odd as this may sound, "bring forth" speaks to me in terms of my kids.  It reminds me of the bible verse referring to bringing up your kids in the ways of the Lord.  As a productive mother it is my duty to "bring forth" well behaved, respectable and self sufficient children.  Is it okay for my kids to see that keeping the house clean is all I'm concerned about.  Let's get real people, my kids could care less if I spent hours cleaning their bathtub with a toothbrush.  They want quality time with their momma! and are good too!  Bring forth awesome kids so they can clean their own bathtub with a toothbrush!  ;)

So, what exactly does all of this mean you ask?  Because really, who understands the rantings of a crazy lady!?!  I'm not real sure but for now I will...

Generate, create, enhance and bring forth a productive way of living!

Challenge accepted!!
